The English Model T Ford – Volume 3 – Exploits and Escapades

Author: Chris Barker and Neil Tuckett
Publisher: The Model T Register of Great Britain

The English Model T Ford – Volume 3 – Exploits and Escapades, published by the Model T Register of Great Britain, is a photographic journey through history with knowledgeable extended captions and background stories to accompany the many illustrations. To understand the thinking behind this book, it is necessary to consider the series of books as a whole.

This is the third volume of the series documenting the English Model T from the Trafford Park, Manchester plant that was Ford's first outside of the USA. The first, published in 2008, also by the Model T Register and supported by the MSMT, is the definitive history of the English Model T as manufactured, and a record of the plant from which the cars emerged. Volume 2 was published in 2014, similarly supported by the MSMT and published by the Model T Register. This volume covered modifications, rebodying and "improvements" made to optimise the use of the Model T for owners and commercial purposes.

Volume 3 is subtitled "Exploits and Escapades", covering what owners and users of Model Ts manufactured at Trafford Park actually did with their cars and light commercials. From the outset, the ubiquity and robust nature of the Model T Ford meant that the military used them extensively. These uses, together with exploration around the world are just some of the subjects covered here. Extensive illustrations cover the period from the introduction of the Model T right up to 2024.

The authors of this book supported by the Michael Sedgwick Memorial Trust need no introduction to aficionados of the Model T Ford. Chris Barker has been the archivist of the Model T Ford Register of Great Britain since 2008 and Neil Tuckett has worked on the cars for the last 25 years at his business in North Buckinghamshire, the go-to place for all Model T enthusiasts.

The book is available from the publishers at Book store | Model T Ford Register GB  at £30 including post and packing to the UK.
