Meet our Authors

Still thinking of writing that book?

Motoring authors reveal their creative process

at a unique live event

If your New Year resolution was finally to get round to writing a book, there will be words of advice and encouragement at the ‘Meet our Authors’ event being organised by the Michael Sedgwick Memorial Trust on the afternoon of Saturday 21 March at Bicester Motion.

‘Meet our Authors’ will be a relaxed gathering where writers and publishers whose work has been supported by the Trust will reveal their methods of producing a book and the highs and lows of getting it printed and on to the bookshelves. Also present will be a number of the Trustees who are themselves motoring authors, publishers and historians. The intention is that there should be informal discussion involving the whole audience, so that first-timers can benefit from the experience of established authors and anyone interested in motoring history can enjoy.

The meeting will be from 3-6pm in the welcoming surroundings of the Hagerty Clubhouse at Bicester Motion, a hub for classic car enthusiasts in Oxfordshire, not far off the M40.

Already confirmed to attend are: Michael Edwards (author and publisher of a series of books on De Dion and an MSMT Trustee.); David Knowles (whose book on Syd Enever of MG has just been published); Paul Skilleter (writer and publisher, acknowledged expert on Jaguar, and an MSMT Trustee); and Ian Wagstaff (writer of many motor sport books including Formula 1’s Unsung Pioneers, supported by the MSMT). Trustee Giles Chapman, author of more than 60 motoring books, and MSMT vice-chairman Peter Card will moderate the discussion (and make sure everyone gets a good hearing!)

Numbers will be limited, so if you would like to attend, a booking form is available at: www.michaelsedgwicktrust.co.uk/news/meet-our-authors-sign-up-here/

The attendance fee of £12 is to cover the cost of administration and tea, coffee and biscuits. We are most grateful to Hagerty, the classic car insurance company, for accommodating our meeting in their comfortable Clubhouse, which should also have some interesting cars on display.
